School-Based Sealant Program

beforeaftersealant.pngWhat are Dental Sealants?  Sealants are a thin, protective coating that is painted onto the chewing surfaces of permanent molar teeth to prevent tooth decay.  Sealants are very quick to apply and do not cause any pain or discomfort.

What is a School-Based Dental Sealant Program?  Our dental team comes to local elementary schools to apply dental sealants to children at no cost to parents.

How does the Program Work? Our dental team takes portable equipment into the school and follows all infection control regulations to provide a safe, clean visit.  They evaluate your child’s teeth and sealants are applied to the appropriate teeth.  Each participating child receives a goody-bag, including a toothbrush!

Who is eligible?  This free program is offered in Allegany County Elementary Schools during the school year.

What do I need for my child to participate? Informational paperwork about the program and a consent form will be sent home by your child’s school in advance of the dental team’s visit.  You can also access and print the consent form by clicking the link below.  You MUST sign and return the consent form to your child’s teacher in order for your child to get free dental sealants.  If your child has a regular dentist, they can still see us for sealant checks and maintenance.

For more information, directions, or to schedule an appointment, contact the Dental Program at (301) 759-5030 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
